STORY

2021

We met on a dating app called Hinge, shocker right? Especially in this day and age. It all started with a fun fact and a card game known as We’re Not Really Strangers.

On our very first date, Roger changed the lights on the Freedom Tower in lower Manhattan. In all honesty, Alexa was intrigued enough to go on a second date, then a third date which was a surprise helicopter ride over the city.

The adventure from our first year continued. We did some traveling , went to too many concerts (Bad Bunny included), and celebrated our first full year of living together. We had more than enough time to practice our home improvement skills. Plus, Alexa had a Britney Spears moment.

By March, we welcomed a new family member, our mini schnauzer named Gojo (he’s named after an anime character that is the strongest sorcerer of our time). We were overwhelmingly happy and floored at how much responsibility taking care of a dog was. We took him apple picking with us by the Fall, safe to say he would follow us everywhere we go, literally.

We travelled a lot for friend’s weddings, went on really amazing hikes, and saw a wonder of the world.

The following year, SURPRISE, we got engaged in Madrid! Alexa was super excited about this trip and had no idea it was coming. Roger gave subtle hints like watching “The Proposal” and “Yes Man” on the flight there. Can you guess it? Alexa was absolutely clueless.

So much so, that she was in shock for minutes after Roger got on one knee in Parque de Retiro.

To Roger’s relief, she said “Yes.”

We took the year very slow, perhaps you can say a smooth transition into adulting. We went to several free concerts, had long walks in our neighborhood, spent time with family and friends, and baked a lot. You might say that grocery shopping and cooking meals were our favorite hobbies. We also worked on being more responsible with our money, and we can confidently say it has paid off.

Fast foward to today, we decided to plan a wedding in two weeks and celebrate with our loved ones, because why not?
